The Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is a plug-in for your browser that allows Java Applets (small programs) to run on your computer. These Java Applets eliminate the need for large downloads and provide the communication from your personal computer to the virtual lab machines. To determine whether you have a supported JRE installed run the 'Test Compatibility' program from the link on the DeVry iLab Home page. Figure 1 presents the initial test window once you have clicked on the 'Test Compatibility' link. Once this window fully loads, you are then able to click the 'Begin Test' button. This launches a series of tests that, once complete, are presented as demonstrated in Figure 2. You can then click on the 'eMail Results' button to send a copy of the test results to us to help troubleshoot any issues that you may be experiencing.
You may download the Sun JRE from SUN Java website. |

Please Note: America Online (AOL), Prodigy, and CompuServe are Internet Service Providers (ISPs) who, as part of their software, provide a web browser that allows users to browse the web. Often, these web browsers are either modified and/or older versions of Internet Explorer (IE). If you're using a browser included with AOL, Prodigy, or Compuserve to access your online course, you may experience sporadic problems. To minimize the possibility of browser-related problems, we strongly recommend you use the latest version of either Firefox or Internet Explorer. If you're using an older version of your browser, you can download a new version of Firefox or Internet Explorer (Windows Update) for free. |
